Richard serves as the CEO of Harcourts South Africa, where he provides strategic vision and direction for the company, ensures the implementation of this strategy, and manages relationships with key stakeholders, including Harcourts International, industry bodies, and business partners. In addition to these responsibilities, Richard oversees the company's financial investments, ensuring that Harcourts remains financially sound. He is also accountable for the corporate governance of the company and reports to the Franchise Council, Board, and shareholders.
Richard is responsible for providing the tools and services necessary for the success of the company's offices and their personnel. He fosters a work environment in which every team member understands their role within Harcourts, has opportunities to fulfill that role, and grow professionally.
Richard possesses extensive experience in IT, project management, corporate operations, and financial services provision, which is invaluable to the Harcourts team. He received his BSc (Hons) degree from Rhodes University and began his career at Oracle and Kellogg's in the United States. He later served as the Head of Systems for the Homeloan Division of NBS Bank.
In recognition of his early contributions to the property industry, Richard received the 'Young Lion Award.' He co-founded the mortgage origination company Bond Choice and later became its CEO before taking the helm of the Harcourts group in 2010.
Richard was drawn to Harcourts by its unique value proposition and potential. His passion for the brand and exemplary leadership qualities have contributed to the company's remarkable growth and success under his leadership. He believes that Harcourts will achieve the position of the number one real estate group in South Africa.
