Agriculture Farm for Sale in Waterpoort, Limpopo.
32 KM from Alldays, but in the Waterpoort area, this 555 hectare farm awaits a new owner. The 18 equipped boreholes output is pumped into a large cement reservoir (+/-300 000lt) at the rate of 130 000lt per hour. Sunk to a depth of 45-120 meters, the boreholes deliver sufficient water for winter planting of crops on the 120 hectare of cleared cultivated fields. 30 Gemsbok, 150 Impala, 4 giraffe and a couple of Blesbok, are allowed to graze the remainder of the farm. Divided into internal camps of 60 hectare, the fields are isolated from the game which allows for both crop and game rotation. The farm is game fenced throughout. This is hard country with an annual rainfall of 400 mm (935 mm in the last season!). Day temperatures regularly reach 40 degrees Celsius, throughout summer and there can be frost in winter. Tough farming conditions calls for exceptional farmers and this was demonstrated by the yield of 32 ton per hectare for winter pumpkins. Planted in 'plots' of 3 hectare the fertigation system
in place, assures precision watering and fertilization of the plots on an individual basis. Plots showing signs of stress can be fertigated as needed with this method. Gap accreditation has been achieved. The farm infrastructure consists of two semi-enclosed sheds, a herbicide/insecticide store and office. A generator supplies power in the event of Eskom outages. The farm access points are gated. The internal roads, some 35km in extent, are exceptionally well maintained, grazing areas are easily reached and firebreaks well maintained. There is accommodation for workers in an 8 bedroom building. Open garages are available for implements and tractors. The house is a neat 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom dwelling, set in a garden that typifies the regions flora, but with green lawns interspersed. A paved drive leads to the butchery building, thatched entertainment lapa, outdoor braai and fire-pit. There are 3 one and two bedroom thatched units with their own bathrooms, for guests. The complex is serviced with a separate laundry building. The whole housing area is fenced and gated for security. The farm manager feeds the resident game between the house and a quarry watering hole. This allows the homestead residents the opportunity to view and enjoy wild animals within meters of the fence line. Past agricultural activity can be seen with the shade cloth areas for growing peppers (2-3 hectare). These do however require maintenance. Crops that have and are being cultivated include watermelons, and butternuts. Pumpkins is the main crop and peppers have been planted in the past. The farm Hardekool can be used for vegetable crops, game or livestock. Sufficient water allows for some diversity in crop rotation. The area is isolated, for those seeking solitude. Spectacular sunrises and sunsets over the bush-veld are a guarantee. Located next to possibly the quietest tar road in Limpopo, that is an hours drive from Louis Trichardt, this farm is in the heartland of South African bush veld. Make it yours!
